Folder System

I learn this along the way, a good folder system is the best way to go about animation, without addition headaches. I had a very bad experience last year, and I learn  my lesson.

Talk about miracle.  I have complete a rigged puppet for Lilly May. IT IS a MIRACLE, because I didn't give up. Thank you God !

I have work long and hard at it, and I did it.

This is another updated for my animation project Lilly May and Turtle.
I am using a very useful tool in the After effects, the puppet pin. I like the finished product:

I was horrify that my animation will not work. I had a very negative feeling that nothing going to work,  everything going horribly wrong with my project. But as I worked on it for many hours, it actually coming together well.... Haha , I am so happy that I had work hard at it with a good result.

seeing this come together has absolutely given me confidence in my ability to finish off .

Characters

• Build each characters in Photoshop
• includes any replacement bits i.e. hands , legs , arms /in-betweens
• Split each movable part into layers
• name each layer as I created them.
• Import the layered .psd into After Effects
• Create character composite
• Set up lighting within character and with shadows
• Plan Animation
• Create rough pencil tests in the Photoshop
• Import into After Effects  
• Animate Character
• Option 1:  Creating a puppet rig 
• Option 2: Animate each layer independently
• Using rotation/Position key frames
• Switch replacement layers as needed
• Head turns, Hands etc.
• Option 3: Use traditional 2D with rotoscoping animation
• Animated entirely in Photoshop with the method of rotoscoping
• Clean up than colour in Photoshop 
• Composite final character into the background comp 

I started off by testing option 3, it was time consuming and judging for what I needed to do this year, I don’t believe I will finish my short with this method.

I ended going with Option 1. The rigged puppet was used for Lilly , Mum and turtle .  I am happy with this method and looks forward to complete the project with this method.

Background

With Option 1 , I do it myself with LOTS of Prayers.

·         Draw 2dD backgrounds in Photoshop and Oil paintings.

·         Scan Oil painting to PNG image.

·         Import  images into After Effects

·         build 3D set using 2D layer

·         Layers with light projection

·         I learned this method from Darren Ball, I thank God for Darren’s teaching.

Sound

·         Music , singing and  sound effects.

Shoot live action .

Record all audio with specialized audio equipment.

Backup data on-site

I have contacted with a group singers they are willing to help. And the music seems to be OK.

Backup Plan

Last year I used my 1TB hard-drive as a backup source. I simply copied the entire project folder onto the drive and that was that. I'll do the same this year.

AND I WILL WORK TOWARD THE END.

Production Management Strategy

After weeks of catching-up with all my assignments , I still need to do one more report!!!

I have tried to do what I could with the animation for the pass few weeks, but with little result. 

This is the "Lilly May" version  I am going to use in my animation short. I had many versions of the "Lilly May" character, but I am happy with this one.

A girl in a messy room, she continues making more mess.

Mum opens a door and unloads a bag of food into the fridge.

The girl is drawing on the wall with a pencil.

Mum turning the door knob with “Lilly” on the door. ( Lilly you in there?)

Mum looks shock.  Mum shouts (you must clean it up).

Lilly cleans a bit of mess, and start walking out of her room to the television.

Mum said “No TV, you are to clean your room”

Girl stormed out of the house.

Girl kicking up gravel as she walks away from the yellow house

Girl sits under a tree in a park, head down. fade.

Girl throws a stone. 

Girl picks up a large stone, about to throw it and discovers it is a turtle.

Back of the girl ,heading home  (fade)

Girl feeding a misbehaving turtle.( turtle spinning on the bowl of food, food spills and splashes)  ( next to a faded drawing on the wall).

Lilly cleans the turtle, and wipes the spill off , while checking on mum, mum is busy on washing clothing.

Girl said“You behave now.”.turtle mutters

Girl check on the mum , mum is cooking.   

Lilly walks out of the room left the door ajar  fade

Lilly open the door, shock horror ‘ohhh, what have you done’

The wall covered with food mesh , while the turtle spinning so fast in the bowl (laughter) 

Lilly look at the mess that the turtle made (colorful mess of food ) and she glance at the faded drawing on the wall while Checks the door (close). ( fade).

Mum walks to Lilly's room, peers in and a shock looks on her face.

Lilly looks shock. “Ohh mum’’

Zooming out to the room The wall is clean and the room is spotless with a drawing on paper pins on the wall – zooming-in on the picture  mum and Lilly holding hands with a big smiling face and dad with a halo and walking on a floor of gold with Jesus by his side.- written “My loving family”

Music :Creature big and small The LORD GOD love them all.

The End

I am going back to Lilly May and the turtle story, and to put Moses And The Burning Bush on hold.

I am happy with my decision , and it will work out for the best. I know it will, I thanking the Lord God for that.

Lilly May and Turtle

Premise:: Lilly May thought that her overworked mum is too serious to have fun. Looking after a much loved pet turtle made her realised that her mum loves her and cares for her.

Out of boredom, Lilly making a mess of her room, drawing on the wall!

Mum command Lilly to clean up her room. Lilly refused to obey, and storm out of the house, walk to a park nearby. She discover a turtle, took it home as her pet.  Lilly became a loving mother to this wild mischief turtle.

 Moses making excuses that he is not the man, but God insisting that he is the man for the job.

Premise : Moses had to do away  with his self-conscious , and letting God showing him what he can do with the divine help and fulfil his calling that is to rescue the Jews out of Egypt out of slavery.

Synopsis: Moses a shepherd tending sheep one day, he see a burning bush. The Lord call Moses out of the midst of the burning thornbush, a burning bush without burning up.

The Lord tells Moses that He have an important job for Moses to do, to rescue the Jews out of Egypt a job too great and hard for any human to fulfill, God assured Moses that the Jews will believes that God had send him as their leader, but it is up to Moses to believe God that he can do it with God’s help, Moses making excuses that he is not the man, but God insisting that he is the man for the job.
